Talking Points

  • Job, again, can’t understand how the wrongs of evil people appear to be overlooked by God.
  • His friends continue to offer advice, trying to defend God for His actions. They contend that Job must be in the wrong.
  • Job agrees that God is righteous in all He does.
  • He realizes true wisdom is not with men or arrived at by experiences – but comes only from God.
  • Job, himself suffering greatly, is aware of the injustice in the world. Are people free from suffering more prone to overlook the world’s mistreatment of others?

Thoughts

Job 28:28 says, “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.’” This truth is restated in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.

One of the measures of wisdom is how we interact with the lost. Reading here about what is in store for the lost puts a renewed sense of urgency in my heart! We are holding the Truth that leads others to salvation – so, why are we timid to share it?

Perhaps it is because we have the knowledge of the Truth, but don’t always act in wisdom – doing the right thing with the knowledge we have. Today, may we pray for boldness and Godly wisdom.
