What if you knew how much God loved you? What would change if you honestly knew just how great His love for you really was?
God wants you to know.
In fact, He goes to great lengths to show you.
In Paul’s letter to the believers in Ephesus, we find a profound prayer. Part of the prayer includes these lines –
“…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge…” Ephesians 3:17-18
That’s tremendous! Paul prays that believers would comprehend. The word means “to grasp; to understand; to realize.” He prays they would comprehend the breadth, length, height, and depth of Christ’s love. These words of dimension represent measurements of hugeness. Paul prays that believers would understand the hugeness of Christ’s love. And, then, here is the crazy part – it is a hugeness which God says surpasses knowledge.
Get that! Paul prays that believers would know the hugeness of Christ’s love, and that as we understand the hugeness of Christ’s love, we would fully understand that it’s so huge, we can’t fully understand it!
Or simply – His love is immeasurable!
I love that.
So how big is His love?
It’s as big as His creation that He spoke into existence.
It’s as big as His Word that reveals Him to us.
It’s as big as eternity, like Him, knowing no bounds.
It’s as big as His promise, the broken restored.
It’s as big as His mercy, new every morning.
It’s as big as His patience, desiring each soul.
It’s as big as His grace, forgiveness for sinners.
It’s as big as His gospel, the power to save.
It’s as big as His salvation, offered to ALL.
It’s as big as His mocking, taking our shame.
It’s as big as His Cross, with room for all sin.
It’s as big as His death, the price of redemption.
It’s as big as His victory, death is defeated!
It’s as big as His righteousness, now worn like a robe.
It’s as big as His name, forever exalted.
It’s as big as His coming, sorrow no more!
So how big is His love?
It’s as big as His Son – Jesus is Lord!
Oh, that we would know the love of Christ!
