Talking Points
- Job longs for the past and remembers great days, when he had a good reputation and people considered him wise. His current state is very humiliating. People laugh at him, avoid him, and even hate him, because of his lot in life.
- He once again states that he has done the right things. Job’s actions, and more than that his intentions, have been God-honoring. He has lived in a way that he can be confident in his integrity.
Thoughts
In Job 31:5-6, Job says, “If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hastened after deceit, let Him weigh me with accurate scales, and let God know my integrity.”
I was once asked to describe my brother in one word. The word I picked was “integrity.” Integrity is honest, strong moral uprightness. What is supposed to be there – what is professed to be there – is actually there. In a world of big talk and often empty promises, this quality is becoming more important and admirable to me. That causes me to consider, “Could that describe how I am living today?” While we all fail, our desire should be to be people of integrity.
