Talking Points
- Job maintains his innocence and reflects on how the earth is full of wickedness that seems to go unpunished. He can’t understand why the wicked prosper, while righteous people have great hardships. But, still, he defers to God’s wisdom.
- Job says that he can’t seem to find God, to know His direction, yet again, it is God’s direction that he seeks. He knows to look for Him.
Thoughts
There is a song that says,
“Farther along, we’ll know all about it.
Farther along, we’ll understand why.
Cheer up, my brother, walk in the sunshine.
We’ll understand it all by and by.”
This song’s lyrics echo what Job was wondering thousands of years ago, and what people still wonder today: why does it seem that people who do wicked things continue to “get away with it”? Our answer here has to be to look to God, to defer to His wisdom, to remember His character, and to trust in His righteousness. We can be thankful that, in all circumstances, for all people, we can trust our patient God who exercises perfect justice in His perfect timing!
